This coming Saturday, 3rd September, is Non-League Day and Clapton Football Club will be playing FC Romania – a team that we have always had very close games with.

After a hectic week in which Clapton celebrated its 138 birthday, had a new manager at the helm, who started with an impressive 5, 2 win over Eton Manor, the Tons are looking to beat last year’s attendance record of 761 of of Non-League day. Will we hit the 1000 mark this year?  Following last year’s event, the players had commented that ‘to play in front of that number of supporters chanting your name, is a fantastic feeling especially when you score’. Last year’s match finished 3.3 against local rival Ilford.

There was a slight embarrassment though last year, as the queue was a hundred meters out of the front gates. With this experience ,the management have this year built a new turnstile. It was a wonderful promotion of Non League football and our community football clubs.

This Saturday will be another exciting and special day, especially for Clapton Football Club We have a new official sponsor GM Rentals, and we continue to have tremendous commitment by the officers, volunteers, players, coaching staff and the supporters, who have all worked hard preparing for the day. Their dedication is what you are witnessing today all around.

As a club we will be offering concessions to children U16, senior citizens, refugees, unemployed (Newham residents can enter on a concession of £3 providing they show a utility bill at the turnstile of not more than 3 months old) The beer will be buy one get the other for £1.50p.

Enjoy yourself at the Old Spotted Dog Stadium. We have been here 136 years (in existence for 138). That is a feat in today’s climate and we would like to thank you all for the support as, without all the marvellous support we get this would not have been possible.
