We had a good solid performance against a very talented young U23 side on Saturday (29th), 3 days away from our big FA Cup clash against Sporting Bengal United FC on 1st September.
We should have been a couple of goals ahead before the hosts went into the lead after 25mins, scoring in their first real attack of the match, after we failed to clear a corner.
We had missed three good chances before that goal but the boys stayed positive and went in search of the equaliser.
The Tons drew level when a corner from the right, was poked in by Ruben Kennedy, who went through a whole host of players to push the ball past the keeper in the 35th minute. Just before the half time break, Deimar Queni put us 2-1 up, with a strike from just inside the box.
We could have easily doubled the scoreline in the second half but for the hosts’ young keeper who pulled off three great saves to keep his side in the match.
We need to make sure we take our chances not just today but for the upcoming season, but overall this was a very good solid performance by #TheTONS.
