Clapton Football Club has always taken health and safety seriously and we are thankful that any slip up by us is so quickly brought to both our attention as well as all relevant bodies.

Currently we are focussed on the season ahead as well as our ground grading requirements (all clubs are inspected annually). At the same time,we are working  bringing the facility up to the required grade for advancement. For us to advance to a higher league, the grade requires an additional 50 under cover seats. However, it’s our intention to build for 100 under cover seats.

In preparation for the construction of the additional seating, since last year we have been gathering as much hard-core, soil, bricks, blocks and sand as possible. The only and most economical way is to store these materials at the ground. We are pleased to inform you that we now have the amount needed.

However, having seen the images splashed all over social media, designed to create more negativity, we do acknowledge the potential safety issues raised and have therefore, taken swift precautionary measures to cover all of the material and to cordon off the area.

We are in the process of applying for planning permission to build the new seating area and will start the work as soon as this has been granted.

As you can see from the before pictures, the potentially hazardous material is partially covered and sited at the far side of the grounds.

We have now moved all of the materials, covered them with tarpaulin and cordoned off the area.
