The newly installed gates at the main entrance of the Old Spotted Dog Stadium was officially named the “Walter Tull Gates” at a special opening ceremony on Saturday (9 July 2016) by local councillor, Winston Vaughan. Officials from the Essex Senior League, also attended the opening ahead of the start of the inaugural Walter Tull Cup, which saw Hackney Wick FC (from the Middlesex League) and AC London (from the Southern Counties East League) take on Clapton FC for the new created cup title.

The name was chosen by you the fans after we received several entries to our ‘Name the Gates’ contest. The names of everyone who voted the “Walter Tull Gates” as their preferred name for the new gates, were put into a hat and the winner was drawn randomly on the day of the Walter Tull Cup.

Congratulations to Tony Devitt, who wins a Free Season Ticket to all Home League Matches for the 2016-17 season.
