Clapton Football Club officially announces its new chairman, Mark North, who was elected at the club’s AGM on 23 June 2018.

Mark was appointed following a gruelling interview process, ending with the selection committee choosing him above the other candidates because of his fresh approach, his knowledge of football (although this is his first senior position) and his experience as the ex-chairman of United London FC, an innovative and new style club where the supporters choose the players for each match via an online voting system.

Mark is a football enthusiast, like the rest of us at the non league level. He comes to the club with an “open door policy” and brings a wealth of new ideas to move Clapton forward. His main focus will be to support Clapton in its promotion back up the league.

He will be adopting a “watch and see” approach in the first instance and working with the other members of the management team, will be making adjustments where necessary, to enable Clapton to become a well oiled machine.

Commenting, Mark said:

“I have a passion for football and created my own football club from scratch that grew from nothing to a following of over 40,00 followers across social media in just two years.

After hearing that the position of Clapton Football club was available, I decided to apply and after two rounds of interviews I was selected and voted in officially at the AGM.

Clapton is an iconic club with a long history and comes with its own set of challenges which is something that appealed to me. I believe that the club needs a fresh approach and an injection of ideas and enthusiasm which will compliment my background.

Stepping into this role means an open door policy so that players, management, sponsors, supporters, etc. will be encouraged to put forward their thoughts and suggestions and I will always listen.

Firstly, I am keen to get a full understanding of the inner workings. Only then would it be right to look at where improvements can be made. We will be announcing any changes via our official channels to keep you in the loop at every step of the way”.

Mark will be supporting the Tons at tomorrow’s first pre-season friendly match against Ware Town FC. Kick off is at 3.00pm.
