It has come to our attention that misleading articles have been posted online with regards to both Clapton FC as a club, and the intentions and integrity of the new executive board and managerial personnel at Clapton FC.

We at the club are proud of our history, and firmly appreciate the fabric of Clapton that has formed over the past 143 years since it was founded in 1878.

We cannot take away from the fact that in more recent times there has been discontent, which led to a group of Clapton fans breaking away and forming its own club, which now sits 2 divisions below us in the Middlesex County League. Whilst we might not agree with their motivations, we understand and respect them.

We are keen to move away from the past and into the future. We have new people working for the club both on and off the pitch, with a number of projects to develop the players, entertain the spectators, and to engage with the community. The recent debacle with the European Super League showed us all how important fans and community are, and Clapton FC is working towards building a strong new image over the weeks, months and years to come.

We will be open, transparent, fair, responsible, and diverse. We will represent our community within the Essex Senior Football League, and beyond, in the best way we possibly can, within our limited means.

For all of this, we only ask for your support.

We understand that there have been ill-feelings between some fans and some members of Clapton FC in the past, and we expect that there might be some naysayers. The reality is, however, that we have a new vision, we have new people on board, we have the full support of the league and the FA, and we are here to stay. We only hope that you will join us for the journey to come, in order for us to continue creating memories to add to the century’s worth we have already accumulated.

We will be communicating with you more frequently through our social media channels and will hope to get many of you involved in our new projects over time. We thank you for your continued patience and loyalty during these challenging times, and we hope to see you back soon at the Terence McMillan Stadium.
