With a semi final place up for grabs, we started confidently, keeping good possession of the ball from kick off. A positive run from Daniel Emovon would have resulted in a free kick but the referee played the advantage which allowed Metso to get a shot on target within the first minute.

We made the breakthrough on 16 minutes after good work between Daniel and Metso again. Daniel crossed to the back post, which was met by Metso who calmly put the ball past the Stansted gk to give us a deserved 1-0 lead.

Stansted tried to get in behind our defence on numerous occasions but our defence stood strong and cleared everything.

On 31 mins, Jaffa remonstrated with the referee, which led to a yellow card, but instead of walking away, he took his protest too far, and the referee produced a second yellow card.

Now we were down to 10 men, Bash made a change to our formation and we made it to half time with our 1-0 lead intact.

We knew for the 2nd half we would have to stay compact as a team, and put our bodies on the line when necessary.

Although Stansted were trying to put us under pressure with the one man advantage, the team as a whole defended brilliantly, with big Josh in particular winning everything in the air.

A counter attack by us in the 22nd minute of the second half led to a promising free kick just outside the box that was wasted as we struck it straight at the wall.

Bash made 3 substitutions to get some fresh legs on, as our players had run themselves into the ground.

The team held on with our gk not really being troubled, to earn a deserved win, especially considering we played the majority of the match with 10 men.

The players showed tremendous strength of character, and we go into the semi final against Redbridge full of confidence having only conceded 1 goal in our past 5 games in this competition.
